Seaside Elopement At The Ocean
This is a blog about me… and my “fake wedding”! If you know me… don’t be confused, I’ve been married for a few years, but my friend Whitney and I thought it would be fun to stage a styled elopement on the beach… so I wrangled my husband with bribes and cake (and some light begging as well)…to create some magic at Cattle Point Beach in Victoria BC. The crashing waves, the beautiful driftwood, and the amazing lighting all came together to create beautiful images, and memories of the day still pop into my head every once in a while!
DIY projects for the day:
- We made a simple arch by banding together two wooden dowels with pretty ribbon, and then placed pampas grass on either side as décor
- We made a seating area on the beach by bring beautiful pillows and blankets in a variety of patterns and textures.
- At our seating area, we incorporated dried florals and grasses by arranging them into beautiful vases we found from a variety of thrift stores
Location and venue details:
The location was in Victoria BC at a beach called Cattle Point
Inspiration behind the day + design:
We wanted to have a very boho elopement style, that was relaxed and focused on enjoying the beauty of the area, without putting a ton of effort into procuring items and stressing about coordinating with multiple vendors. For this shoot, we chose to go with dried florals due to their every lasting nature, and that they can be easily picked up and stored in advance of the wedding.
Advice for brides planning now:
You don’t need a complex and expensive wedding to have a beautiful day! Choose what is your priority and keep it simple.
